Escent is a body product retailer who specialises in the curation of aromatic blends of botanicals grown and produced in Venice. The brand blends contemporary skincare science with traditional Italian herbalism and sensory rituals to create luxurious body products and oils.
Situated on the island of Mazzorbo in the northern venetian lagoon, the Farm and Bath house embraces the surrounding agricultural landscape and paired back Italian lifestyle. Framed by scenic bed and breakfasts, wineries and vineyards, the farm and bath house blends seamlessly into the tranquil environment.
The exclusive retreat takes the user to a peaceful sanctuary amongst an oasis of aromatic botanicals on the farming site. The scheme explores the traditional, ritualistic use of water to cleanse the body mind and soul, through the reinterpretation of the Roman Thermae.
The farm and bath house is located on the site of the 14th Century Santa Caterina Monastery. The obsolete church is given a new purpose, which ties back to its spiritual roots. Guests are invited to visit the sacred site as a cleansing and renewing experience, as the church once did.
At its core, the scheme aims to create elegant spaces of rejuvenation through minimalist design with fine detailing and luxurious finishes that showcases an assemblage of architectural tradition and contemporary design, informed by a deep understating of the social, environmental, and historical landscape.
