What remains when Venice vanishes? A thought that sounds incredibly dystopian, however is appearing to be a future reality. Scientists predict that Venice will be gone as soon as 2100 with rising sea level submerging the 1200 year old city.
The Sotto Acqua Museo, or Underwater Museum is a floating piece of civic architecture that moves with the fluctuating levels of the sea. With an occupiable roof plane, internally it hosts a gallery that exhibits work responding to climate change. A hub for the Institute of futurism, and the Curator’s Corner, a private collaborative office space that facilitates the minds behind the museum.
